Job Description:
Role: Customer Service Assistant Hourly Rate: £10.93
Purpose of the Role: This role involves delivering exceptional customer service and safety while driving sales through various duties in Northern Stage’s Front of House spaces, including ushering and café bar responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and assist customers, promoting inclusivity and access to our facilities.
- Support commercial operations, including café bar service and retail initiatives.
- Drive sales through product knowledge and enthusiasm for our offerings.
- Use EPOS till system and Dojo card readers accurately for sales transactions.
- Guide customers to their performance space and assist during the performance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and inviting environment in front-of-house areas.
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene procedures and handle alcohol service responsibly.
- Assist in emergency evacuations and uphold Emergency Action procedures.
- Stay updated on Northern Stage activities and respond to customer comments and complaints.
- Champion Northern Stage’s mission, vision, and values.

Person Specification:
- Genuine interest in working with diverse people.
- Strong understanding of customer service.
- Experience in hospitality or customer-facing roles.
- Proficient in cash handling, EPOS/Dojo systems, and stock control.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Positive and proactive team player.
- Availability for evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and unsociable hours.
- Must be over 18 years old with UK Right To Work documentation.
Terms & Conditions:
Salary: £10.93 per hour
Contract Type: Casual
Overtime: No overtime payments; Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) system.
Pension: Contributory pension scheme (employer 3% / employee 5%).
Probationary Period: 3 months
Location: Northern Stage, Barras Bridge, Newcastle NE1 7RH
