
University Of Manchester Global Futures Scholarships offer awards totaling £300,000 to international students, commencing their studies in September 2023.
The scholarship is open to both undergraduate and master’s students.

Through their unique combination of disciplines and specialist expertise, they are positioned to influence the grand challenges of this century, notably poverty eradication, securing social justice, environmental change and sustainable urbanism.
The University of Manchester was created in 2004 by the merger of two historic universities in the city of Manchester, the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and the Victoria University of Manchester. The main campus is located south of Manchester city centre on Oxford Road.

Scholarship Requirements:
Applications will be considered from international fee-paying students domiciled in the following countries: Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Botswana, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Applicants must be applying for direct first-year entry in 2023 and have, or be working towards one of the following qualifications:
- A-levels
- IB Diploma
- South African NSC or IEB
- NCUK International Foundation Year
Applicants for the African awards must have accepted a conditional or unconditional offer to study a full-time programme at Manchester and must submit an online scholarship application form by 19 May 2023.
Awards will be given out after the examination results have been verified from June to August 2023, depending on the type of qualification taken.
- The application form will be emailed to all relevant offer-holders.
- Applicants will be considered for the award based on academic merit and the quality of their scholarship application.
- Applicants must be self-funded (not sponsored).
- Applicants for Medicine (MBChB) Dentistry (BDS) or Architecture degrees are not eligible for the award.
- Applicants must have selected The University of Manchester as their FIRM UCAS choice by 19 May 2023.
- Applicants who have previously studied at a higher education institution in the UK are not eligible for the award.
- Applicants for blended and distance learning programmes are not eligible for the award.

For Postgraduate

- Applicants for MBA, MPhil, Master of Architecture (MArch), Architecture and Urbanism (MA), Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA), Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Clinical Medicine and Dentistry degrees are not eligible for the award.
- Applicants who have previously studied a degree in the UK are not eligible for the award.
- Applicants for blended and distance learning programmes are not eligible for the award.

Scholarship Duration and Reward
Each award comprises £5,000 for the first year of study with a further £5,000 awarded in the second and third years of study, conditional on attainment of 60% average in each year.
Scholarships will be awarded in the form of an appropriate discount against published overseas tuition fees.
16 awards of £15,000 will be awarded based on academic excellence and the quality of your responses in the online application form.

For Masters applicant:
Individuals looking to be considered for the African awards must have already received an offer to take part in a full–time master‘s program at Manchester and must submit a scholarship application online no later than 19 May 2023.
In addition, a number of other faculty, school and programme-specific scholarships are available to students from Africa.
For PhDs the University offers a number of competitive bursaries via individual Schools and research groups for well-qualified candidates. Please check with your prospective academic School for details and check the University’s postgraduate research funding database.
